Mustafa Abdel Wadood - Chairman

Mustafa Abdel-Wadood is a Chairman and a member of the Board of Directors of Abraaj Capital. As CEO of Abraaj Investment Management, he oversees the company’s investment activity across the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA). Before Abraaj, Mr. Abdel-Wadood was at Egyptian investment bank EFG-Hermes as CEO, UAE. Mr. Abdel-Wadood is on the boards of several companies including Air Arabia, JorAMCo and Pakistan’s BMA Capital. Mr. Abdel-Wadood holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo and an MBA from Georgetown University.

Moazzam Mazhar Malik - CEO

Mr. Malik is Chief Executive Officer, Executive Vice Chairman and one of the founding partners of BMA Capital. Mr. Malik has over 22 years experience of business in the UK, Middle East and in Pakistan’s financial markets and has been a member of BMA’s Executive Management Committee. He has been responsible for building two core businesses for BMA, namely Corporate Finance and BMA Trade, the firm’s nationwide retail equity business. Mr. Malik’s advisory experience includes the first ever privatisation in Pakistan’s capital markets, and advising Pakistan’s Ministry of Science & Technology on the deregulation of the telecom sector, which ultimately led to explosive growth in Pakistan.
Mr. Malik has a Masters in Management from MIT Sloan School, Cambridge, USA, and a B.Sc in Electronics from University of Sussex, Falmer, UK. |

Farrukh Hussain Khan - Director

Mr. Khan is one of the founding partners and former CEO of BMA Capital. Presently he is an Executive Director of BMA Capital and Executive Vice Chairman of BMA. With 24 years of experience, he has extensive knowledge and understanding of the capital markets and financial sector in Pakistan and has been closely involved in guiding and growing all the business areas in BMA. Mr. Khan has worked on many landmark transactions of Pakistan, having been instrumentally involved in BMA’s achievement of becoming the leader in privatisation and financial advisory in the country. Mr. Khan previously served as Director of Treasury and Investment Banking at American Express Bank.
He was selected by Euromoney as one of the top 50 financial leaders, aged 40 and under, from around the world. He is an active member of the Young President’s Organisation (YPO) and has been past president of the Pakistan Chapter. He was President of Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) for the year 2009-10. Mr. Khan qualified as a chartered accountant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in their London office in 1986. He received a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Manchester, in the United Kingdom, in 1982. Mr. Khan enjoys reading, collecting fine art, and listening to music. He is married with three children. His philanthropic interests include children’s health and education.

Muddassar Mazhar Malik - Director

Mr. Malik is one of the founding partners of BMA and an Executive Director and Executive Vice Chairman of BMA. In addition to his role as CEO of BMA Asset Management, he is also a member of the Executive Management Committee of BMA. Mr. Malik established the equity business for BMA Capital, and has 22 years experience in the financial markets. Previously he was with Salomon Brothers and Coopers & Lybrand in the UK. Mr. Malik has an MBA in Finance and Corporate Strategy from MIT’s Sloan School and holds a Master’s degree in Political Economy from the London School of Economics.

Mazhar Malik - Director

Mr. Mazhar Malik has over 50 years of experience in infrastructure, project design and management, and real estate in Pakistan, the Middle East and Europe. He is one of the Founding partners of BMA Capital. Most recently he has been the President of The Engineering Consultancy headquartered in London, a which undertakes large scale housing and Civil Engineering development projects in the Middle East and Europe. Mr. Malik holds a Master’s in Structural Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Hons.)

Salim Khan - Director

Mr. Salim Khan has been instrumental in helping to re-engineer BMA. Mr. Khan has been with BMA since 2004, establishing the Human Resources department and many of the Group’s support departments, as well as contributing to BMA’s overall strategic direction. He has over 25 years experience in corporate human resources and HR and strategy consulting. He holds Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology.

Omar Khan Lodhi - Director

Mr. Omar Lodhi joined Abraaj in 2005 and has 16 years of private equity and investment banking experience gained in the Middle East, Asia and Europe. At Abraaj, Mr. Lodhi headed on one of three investment management teams responsible for deal sourcing, execution and post acquisition management of partner companies. Mr. Lodhi’s geographical focus spanned primarily Turkey and the GCC targeting a range of sectors including oil and gas, education, food and agriculture and industrials. Mr. Lodhi has Bachelor’s degree from the London School of Economics in International Trade and Development, and is an MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Matteo Stefanel - Director

Matteo Stefanel brings over 12 years of private equity and investment banking experience to the investment team at Abraaj, which he developed through more than 60 M&A transactions in Europe, the US and Middle East. Prior to joining Abraaj, Matteo Stefanel was with Marfin Investment Group where he was the Chairman of the Recommending Investment Committee. He was previously a Managing Director at Deutsche Bank. Mr. Stefanel is a graduate of Oxford University with an Honours degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (BA Hons).

Ahmed Adeel Badreldin - Director

Mr. Ahmed Badreldin has over 12 years experience in investment banking, finance and consulting. Prior to joining Abraaj, he was a Senior Director in Leveraged Finance at Barclays Capital in London. Ahmed Badreldin holds a B.Sc. in Industrial Management and Business Administration from the American University in Cairo and an MBA from the Cranfield School of Management in the UK.

Aziz Moojli - Director

Aziz Moolji has more than nine years experience in investment banking, primarily in New York. At Abraaj he is responsible for deal origination, structuring and execution, and portfolio management. Before joining Abraaj he was a Vice President with Merrill Lynch & Co. in the Financial Sponsors Group in New York with joint coverage and execution responsibility for leading private equity firms and hedge funds, including KKR, Harbinger, New Mountain Capital and Oaktree Capital.
Previously he was a senior associate at Goldman Sachs & Co. in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group in New York where his responsibilities included origination and execution of corporate M&A transactions. Over the course of his career, Mr. Moolji has been involved in the execution of more than 25 transactions, including sellside M&A, buyside M&A, equity offerings, and bank and bond financings. Mr. Moolji holds a Masters in Business Administration from The Wharton School and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
